Rainy days mean craft days...

I just love rainy days. It gives me an excuse for not having to do yard work or cleaning. So what do I do when I don't have to clean... Craft of course! and play with the kids.

We purchased these toys at Taco Bell of all places that are actually educational. It is a game where each person creates a cube. On the cube there are numbers. Who ever rolls the highest number wins, the loser turns that side of the cube around (the backside of the piece has a band aid on it). It is great for teaching him number recognition and number order. The biggest bonus is that it is actually a pretty fun game.

Found out today that we are going to celebrate my nephews birthday next weekend, so I decided that would be my card project for today. Well I had a great day and actually completed two cards. So here they are:

Get Well card for my father-in-law

On Tuesday, my father-in-law was admitted to the hospital due to a minor heart attack. To help cheer him up I sent him this get well card.

The stamps are from Eureka! stamps. The cloud was created using Cricut Paper Pups cartridge and the background paper was embossed using the cuttlebug and a Fiskars embossing plate.

Bitten By the Bug Spring Cricut Contest

I just love a challenge:

Regina and Peachy Keen Stamps is hosting/sponsoring a Cricut contest where the theme is spring. http://regina-bittenbythebug.blogspot.com/

Here is my entry:

Spring on the Farm

I wanted so create something fun and whimsical. The squirrels are playing badminton, the frog is swinging on a daisy swing, and the sheep and pig are enjoying some fresh picked watermelon. The ladybug is just sitting back and watching all the action.

The card was made using the following: Animal kingdom cart:Frog, sheep, pig, and squirrels Doodlecharms: ladybug and watermelon. I used a small punch to simulate the bite taken from the watermelon. My world: fence Accent Essentials: Sun Tree was made using a bare tree rubber stamp, colored using marvy markers. The leaves and flowers on the tree and ground were made using white liquid applique and hot pink perfect pearls pigment powder for the flowers and green perfect pearls pigment powder for the leaves. I then heated it to get the 3D look. The swing was made using punched flowers that were individually placed to form the daisy chain and used cotton candy stickles in the center of each flower. Animals, sun and fence were colored using Gamsol technique. Flowers were colored with markers and stickled with purple and yellow. Misc. embelishments: paper from stash and magic mesh. Finally, I used green and brown chalk to give the ground some dimension.

New happenings at the website

Well, I am starting once again to work on the website. Unfortunately, websites are ALWAYS a work in progress. I am adding a messageboard and a great instructional page. I am hoping the messageboard will be a great place for people to make friends, learn and share new ideas, and challenge their crafting skills by joining the monthly technique challenges.

The instructional page will always be a work in progress. You can never know everything and learning never stops.

I am hoping to post the first monthly card and layout challenges on March 1st.

Thats all for now...

Great day for cardmaking

Finally starting to feel better after a week long illness. Still can't hear well, but I don't need to hear to craft.

With the weather outside windy and rainy, it is a great excuse to spend my time playing with my crafts.

These are the two cards I completed.

This card is for my nephew who is turning 4.

I made this card for a contest ...Now I just need to keep my fingers crossed.
